Winter activities are a must for most of us as we prepare for the cold weather that the winter season brings so why not try these lovely activities to keep you entertained:
Winter Wonderland Scene – why not offer white paint mixed with salt to create a snowy effect on paintings which will engage children with different textures.
You could substitute the polystyrene balls needed for the snowman with balls of newspaper to paint over or balloons.
Outdoors
Don’t forget to still experience the outdoors with the children. Ensuring that we ask parents for appropriate clothing and shoes to enable the children to experience the frosty spider webs and the crunch of the ice on the grass and hopefully the snow when it comes; hats, scarves, gloves and warm coats are a must for children and staff so we can be comfortable in the cold.
An idea is to supply thick fluorescent coats/jackets for staff that will be in the outdoor area, these don’t have to be on a one for everyone basis but some to reflect the number of staff generally supervising the outdoor open access provision.
Be seen and be warm to enable the outdoor environment!!
