A review carried out by The Children’s Society as their Latest Wellbeing report to look more closely at children’s wellbeing from their perspective and the findings were quite sad that ‘ half a million children across the UK are unhappy with their lives.
The outcomes that were highlighted covered 6 key priorities required to ensure a positive and content childhood. More that 30,000 children were involved in the survey between the ages of 8 and 16 years. An overview is that children who are generally unhappy will be less likely to enjoy time that they spend within the home environment and with family.
Also affecting time that they are spending with friends during which they may feel unsafe and insecure and reaching to the long term in their lives that they may not aspire or look positively to the future. Other considerations are that children who are evidently unhappy, insecure and have low self esteem could be targeted as a victim of abuse, eating disorders and even becoming depressed.
