Games that most of us can remember form our own childhood and school playground which still continues today, from collecting the conkers to preparing them for the game. In recent years there has been news coverage on this ‘old school’ game with worries of the health and safety implications that it brings. In some areas certain schools and establishments took to banning the playing of conkers for their own reasons, a popular rule discussed was that children would need to wear safety goggles if they did play conkers. This led to many people being misinformed of the ‘ban’ and believing that it was an outright ban that all had adhere to, however, the Health and Safety Executive who are the governing body for health and safety in the UK released a poster in September 2007 to clear up this myth. A good reflection opportunity if you do currently have a ban on conkers in place.
